Bienvenue à Biscuits + Brioche!

Culinary trends come and go. Cajun was the hot topic yesterday. Asian fusion is the “it” cuisine of the moment, whatever moment that may be. Small plates anyone? What about right now this minute? Where are we now and where in chiliville are we headed?
Small plates, God forbid we call them tapas. have been the hit for some time now. This pleases me to no end. I love tasting bits of this and that and not being stuck with just one dish. “30 Minute Meals” and “Easy Entertaining” provide quick and easy fixes for all of us movers and shakers, and the slow food movement allows us our right to taste and savor traditional fare. So what does all of this mean? Anything goes. It’s bold one minute and calm and simple the next. It is all about our individual style–what we want, what we need at the moment. If we lead busy, stress-filled lives, and can’t fathom the idea of preparing a huge meal, fast and easy is there for us. If we prefer to lengthen our meals and enjoy conversation over slow-cooked, more traditional dishes, then time is on our side. With new restaurants popping up every few minutes and cooking shows giving us everyday tips, the world is our oyster. The biggest trend today is the right to choose. Crème fraîche is slowly emerging in small-town grocery stores and grits and eggs can be devoured in high-end New York dives. That’s where Biscuits and Brioche comes in–a conglomeration of all things delish and satisfying, no matter what our location or mood. In this blog, I have, and will continue, to include tried and true recipes; excellent blogs I religiously peruse each and every day; lists of must-go-to restaurants; and whatever else I can think is worth sharing with the rest of the world. I am extremely happy to offer this information and welcome tips and ideas from any and everyone out there willing to read yet another blog. There are so many great ones out there, and I highly recommend exploring them all. You never know what you may find. Vive la Communication!
